Tagcrumbs Launches iPhone App

Tagcrumbs, the web platform for sharing favourite places, has launched a free application for the iPhone and iPod touch. The app can be downloaded from Apples App Store in seven countries, including the UK, US and Germany.
Tagcrumbs says the launch of the iPhone app is a response to the increasing popularity of Location-based Services offered by US startups such as Foursquare and Gowalla. However, the company says, Tagcrumbs is not a game with check-ins, but rather an application for travellers and place experts to create and present locations of their field of interest.
The power of Tagcrumbs lies in the flexibility and simplicity to tag local discoveries of all kinds, be it the newly opened restaurant, a cozy beach bar or a hidden barbecue area", says Tagcrumbs Co-founder, Benedikt Foit. "Users create their own categories with the help of tags and work on sets of places collaboratively."
The app can also be used when no Internet connection is available, relying solely on GPS. This is handy useful when travelling abroad, as it avoids roaming fees. In addition, all information is synchronized between the iPhone and website.
