With Progressive, Users Can Buy Car Insurance with a Smartphone Camera

Progressive Insurance has launched its Image Capture mobile 'photo quoting' technology, powered by Mitek systems, which simplifies the process of getting a car insurance quote for consumers.

With Image Capture, customers can use their smartphone to take a picture of their driver’s license and vehicle identification number. The app then scans the information, and auto-populates a form, which the user confirms is correct.

“The new technology gives consumers another way to get insurance by using items most people have in their pocket or purse – a smartphone and a driver’s license,” says Matt Lehman, Progressive’s mobile business leader.
