M&S Leads Usablenet to Success

Mobile site developer Usablenet is celebrating success in the latest Keynote Mobile Retail Index for for the week ending 27 November, produced by Keynote Systems.

The Index shows the average response times, success rates and a composite score for downloading the homepage of selected retailer’s mobile sites of retailers using Keynote’s Mobile Web Perspective over Air system, which tests the sites over a cellular connection. 

Keynote repeatedly tests the sites in the index hourly and around the clock over two Tier 1 wireless networks in each country covered - Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, UK and US - over popular smartphones. The retail sites that appear in the Index are designed to provide an industry benchmark for well-known company sites.
The top two sites – Marks & Spencer in first place and Tesco in second, are powered by Usablenet’s platform. German retailer Otto finished in third, with Next (UK) in fourth and Aldi (Germany) in fifth. Places 6 – 10 were occupied by Amazon (Japan), Chanel (France), John Lewis (UK), Amazon (Germany) and WalMart (US).

M&S clocked in at 4.86 seconds for load time with a 100 per cent success rate, against an  average index of 9.55 seconds and 92.72 per cent success rate. The top three all enjoyed a 100 per cent success rate, with Otto loading in 5.07 seconds, and Tesco in 5.88 seconds. During the week in question, Usablenet’s platform served up 400 million pages to 25m users via its 250 mobile sites around the world.
