MEF Asia Elects i-POP Founder as Chair

The Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) has expanded its Asian board, and elected new members.

The Asian board will now be chaired by Colin Miles, who co-founded Asian mobile services provider i-POP. AdMob's Mike Kofi Okyere will serve as vice-chair.

The MEF Asia board also brings together executives from Hungama Mobile, IMImobile, InMobi, KPMG China, Maxis Communications Berhad, Mono Technology, Netbiscuits, Speedcast, Silverstreet and Tata Teleservices.

Miles, who had been serving as vice-chair, says: "Building on our strong presence in Singapore, the immediate plan for MEF Asia is to consolidate our membership growth and regional expansion across new territories including Australia, Southeast Asia, China and India. Neatly positioned at the centre-point of the region, Singapore represents the powerful heartbeat of a connected Asia and has proven an ideal base for us."

Miles says that the MEF wants to extend its engagement with network operators, many of which can benefit from what MEF Asia has to offer. "In this way," he says, "we can empower our members to collectively chart the course for this ever-growing industry as the mobile ecosystem continues to embrace and shape every aspect of our daily lives."

Andrew Bud, MEF global chairman, says: "Asia is a key territory for innovation and growth for MEF and its ever-broadening member base. With his long experience in the Asian market, great industry expertise and invaluable contribution to MEF Asia Board, I have every confidence that Colin's leadership will further strengthen MEF's position across the region. I'd also like to thank Neeraj Roy for his important contribution to the Global Board during his years as Asia chair."
