Mediafed Acquires Taptu
Taptu's news aggregator was named one of the best ways to read books, magazines and newspapers by The Wall Street Journal in August 2012. It is available in more than 100 countries across iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Samsung and the mobile web. Wapedia, its mobile Wikipedia app, been downloaded more than 4m times.
Mediafed says it has more than doubled its mobile user base in the past three months from 20m to 50m visitors. The service works with global advertisers and publishers, including The Guardian, on a high-value CPM model.
“Our acquisition of Taptu will create the first global platform to monetise RSS across all digital devices,” said Ashley Harrison, CEO of Mediafed. “This is the future of publishing and we are elated to gain the incredible Taptu product, technology, team and committed user base in this quest.”
Details of the financial arrangements were not revealed.
