Humble Bundle Comes to Android

Humble Bundle has launched a 'pay what you want' bundle of games for Android. A PC-only venture in previous incarnations, this selection of three games are available as Android apps, with PC versions also available.

The 'pay what you want' business model enables customers to select any price in excess of $0.01 - and to choose how to divide the payment between the game developers, Humble Bundle itself, and the EFF and Child's Play charities.

The bundle, which runs for a fortnight, incentivises customers to pay higher amounts by offering a fourth game, World of Goo, to any paying over the average price - currently $5.92.

In the 12 hours since the Bundle went live, it has taken over $407,000 - the previous made a total $2.4m (£1.5m), with 435,250 customers paying an average of $5.45.

Including Android, alongside PC and Mac, reflects the platform's prominence, but also - given that downloading the games requires users to enable their device to accept non-Market apps - raises the question of whether this kind of deal would be possible on iOS, due to the tighter restrictions on its App Store.
