Gemalto and South African Standard Bank provide contactless payment and transport card

Standard Bank in South Africa is working with Gemalto to offer a payments and transport wallet card for its customers.

Using the multifunction EMV contactless payment card provided by payments and security firm Gemalto, users will be able to pay for travel fares and other goods and services all in one place.

Standard Bank customers can now use the new MasterCard debit card to wave and pay directly at the gates in the public transport stations, without needing to carry cash or a separate travel card.
