Galaxy S3 Sales To Break 10m in July?
Shipments of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will exceed 10m during July, according to the OEM's head of mobile Shin Jong-kyun. The Galaxy launched on 29 May, meaning that the predicted milestone falls two months into the handset's lifespan – that's equivalent to 7,000 Galaxy S3s shifted every minute.
The handset is currently available from 300 carriers across the world, and is Samsung's fastest selling smartphone. Overall profit from Samsung's mobile division reached $3.6bn (£2.3bn) in Q1, 2012, accounting for 73 per cent of the company's total operating profit.
Shin also claimed that the company's Q2, 2012 results would be even better than the last – seemingly a retort to the 4 per cent drop in Samsung's share prices, and recent forecasts to the contrary from analysts including JP Morgan.
