Mayor Michael A. Nutter of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has announced an app that will allow citizens to connect with city government using their mobile devices.
Philly311 is a “civic engagement platform” and was created in partnership with software company PublicStuff. Features include the ability to report issues and create service requests, geo-targeting to search for the location of requests; photo uploads; and voting. Additionally, city employees will have access to data reports and analytics gathered from various requests, enabling them to track trends and requests in progress.
“The Philly311 mobile application is the latest step toward a smart, responsive 21st Century municipal government by ensuring that Philadelphians can quickly and effectively communicate their needs to city government,” said Mayor Nutter. “This app will bring city services to citizens’ fingertips and will continue the transformation of government into a nimble customer-service organization.”
