6.02 on a Friday Night
It’s 6.02, Friday 9 November, 2007. The iPhone is officially on sale in the UK, and all those nutters who camped out overnight can now officially buy one.
What impact will it have? I think it will be huge, and it could be potentially disastrous. Think about it. A few months from now, half the mobile phone-owning population have got one, so when you go for a drink with friends, people get their phone out because they want everyone to know they’ve got one, they have a few drinks, then when it’s time to leave, there’s six iPhones on the table and no-one’s quite got a clue whose is whose. Maybe they’ll start using iPhones instead of car keys at swingers’ parties. Maybe it’s been a long week and I should just stop writing and go to the pub.
Whatever, if you’re one of those who couldn’t wait, enjoy your iPhone. You’ve got the whole weekend to stroke it.
