1bn mPayments Users by 2016, says Portio

The number of mPayment users worldwide will break 1bn by the end of 2016, according to the Mobile Payments 2012-2016 report from Portio Research, representing a 44.62 per cent CAGR, from 158.1m in 2011.

mPayment volumes, meanwhile, which denote the face value of purchases and transactions through mobile handsets, stood at $159.3bn in 2011. According to the report, this number will comfortably pass $1 trillion by the end of 2016.
